What is the beam spot output from the optical fiber coupled laser?
The beam spot output by the optical fiber coupled laser is generally a circular light spot with a certain divergence angle. The specific spot size is related to the fiber core diameter, and the divergence angle is determined by the fiber numerical aperture. Commonly used optical fibers are divided into single-mode and multi-mode. The single-mode core diameter ranges from 2.9 μm to 9 μm, and the multi-mode core diameter ranges from 50 μm to 400 μm. The numerical aperture is generally 0.15NA and 0.22NA. Numerical aperture refers to the sine value of the maximum incident angle at which the light beam undergoes total reflection transmission in the fiber. It can be simply regarded as the divergence angle of the laser after the fiber is emitted. 0.22NA represents the divergence angle (half angle) of approximately 12.5°, and 0.15NA represents the divergence angle of approximately 8°.

According to its structure, it can be divided into three types: FC, ST and SMA-905. The appearance is shown in the figure below. Among them, the FC fastening method is a turnbuckle, a ceramic ferrule is used, and the butting end surface has a flat surface (PC) and an 8° angle bevel (APC). This type of connector has the advantage of being reliable. The ST fixing method is a snap-fit type, which is fixed by a bayonet for half a rotation after insertion, which is easy to operate.
